Hunger Busters
In March of 2009, Hunger Busters was created to help children in need. It was initiated by Southside Early Childhood Center. In this program, needy kindergarten children are given non-perishable food items to take home over the weekend. We here at Carolina Kids are working with Harvest Hope Food Banks to grow our Hunger Busters program.
Our clothes closets are accepting non-perishable food items to our program. We currently provide 150 food bags to two schools for children to have food for the weekend. We are able to provide the 150 food bags because of food drives, monetary donations and a grant we received from FEMA.
We were recently awarded a grant from the Byerly Foundation which will enable us to expand our program to provide more food bags to more schools in our local area. We are very grateful for support from the Byerly Foundation for this very important program. Food donations can be left at the Kids Closet in Hartsville. Donations can be left in our secure and dry metal donation bin.
